Schwartz 2-in-1 Recipe Mixes Review (Part 3)

So the lovely people over at Schwartz  (via Mumsnet) have asked me to do a product test of these 2-in-1 Recipe Mixes for chicken. It's ideal because we LOVE chicken in this house and I'd love to try new ways of serving it to my kids that are quick and easy, and maybe even let them help!

Before I start let me say that all views and opinions in this review are my own. I have not been paid to make this review, but I have been given these 5 packets for free.

Review 3: Southern style crunchy chicken bites + BBQ dip

The kids aren't fed up of chicken yet! They're liking trying different ways of serving chicken and the thought of making our own Southern Style Chicken had them begging for me to get on and make it

What it says on the packet:

This is suggested for 4 servings and claims it takes just 20 minutes to cook. Looking at the directions on the packet this is likely to be the quickest and easiest of the packets so far

Cooking:

Honestly, there isn't much cooking involved in this one - part from things to go with it (we had potato wedges, onion rings and mushy peas). It was very simple to follow.

If I could change anything about this packet I would have more of the crunchy topping. It looked a little sparse on the on the diced chicken I used. maybe it wouldn't have done if I had used strips instead of chunks. That said, once it was cooked the chicken did not lack in either taste or crunch.

How did it taste?

It was nice. The Hubby declared it the best of the three I've reviewed so far! My eldest ate the lot and polished his plate, my fussy middle child said it was too spicy but still ate it all (so it can't have been THAT spicy) and even the baby had a good go easting most of his chicken. They all LOVED the BBQ Sauce and said they wished they had more of it.

This is one that I would buy again. I can think of other things we could do with it, like serve it in a wrap with some salad or slices of cooked pepper, or try the mix on other portions of chicken or even pork.

Kids rating: 4/5
